On June 19 the city of Midland, Texas, issued a news release alerting citizens to an attempted theft at a local store during which the thief pulled a knife on an employee who tried to follow him. Surveillance photos were published, and after about a day, the suspect was apprehended. See MPD: Man arrested for alleged Academy Sports thefts:
MPD officers arrested 37-year-old Fernando Rocha Thursday after receiving tips regarding the suspect’s identity.
Three cheers for the citizen(s) who helped identify that perp!
Then on June 20, a city news release alerted citizens about another criminal on the loose. This one attempted to abduct women on two separate occasions and stabbed one of them. Photos were released, and now we learn that an arrest has been made in that case, too. See Police Arrest Man Wanted For Aggravated Robbery 6/21/13:

Let's help put a stop to criminal behavior. Each of us should stay alert and be aware of our surroundings at all times. The city has grown rapidly in the past year, and among the newcomers may be some predatory types who see our relaxed attitude and view us as tempting targets. Better that they should fear us rather than see us as potential victims.
