It should be common knowledge that the way to end the border crisis -- the overwhelming influx of underage immigrants -- is to send all those recent arrivals back home.
Most Republicans seem to want that, and even President Obama is said to want to do it. All it takes is an amendment to the 2008 law which created an exception for Central American minors.
But then there are the Democrats in the Senate. Thehill.com reports it in Obama, Senate Democrats clash over how to handle border crisis. Patrick Leahy and Dick Durbin are both concerned about legal rights of the arrivals. These are liberals with hearts so big the beat is too loud to allow any clear thinking. But maybe during this election year the other senators will listen to the people.
What's still missing is a border that's not so leaky. Strong border security would not have prevented this particular crisis. But it might prevent the next one.
