Saw a program on the food channel last night about the rattlesnake cookoff at the Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater, Tx. And, they all say the same thing. Rattlesnake meat tastes like - all together now - "It tastes like CHICKEN!"
Bull corn. It's doesn't taste anything at all like chicken, unless they are referring to some sort of prehistoric chicken that looks more like a Velociraptor than a modern day chicken.
In fact, rattlesnake meat tastes like frog legs.
Update 12/14/04: The next annual Rattlesnake Roundup will be held the 2nd weekend in March of '05 in Sweetwater, Texas.

Where can I buy rattlesnake meat? I found a place in Az and purchased 'Dale's Wild West Rattlesnake' in a can. It is a 7.5 oz can, but the snakes uses are little, and there are too many bones.

If anybody wants to buy rattlesnake meat, I'll sell you some. These are Western Diamondback, from 3 ft. to 6 ft. long. Will sell by the pound or the whole snake, Cleaned, fresh and frozen. Will include the skin and rattlers for extra charge. If you want them live, I've got plenty of live ones just looking for a new home.

You'res says "Where can I buy rattlesnake meat? I found a place in Az and purchased 'Dale's Wild West Rattlesnake' in a can. It is a 7.5 oz can, but the snakes uses are little, and there are too many bones." We know u don't sell rattlesnake meat.

I am looking for "Rattlesnake Sausage" to use as a Pizza Topping.
Has anybody else ever heard of this? I used to get it on a Pizza from a local pizzaria in Clifton by UC's Campus in Cincinnati. They are now "out-of-business".

Jim, that's a new one on me. I wonder if it was really rattlesnake in the sausage or if it just made a nice sounding name.

Any feedback on that rattlesnake sausage? I have a pizzeria and am looking to make a signature pizza with rattlesnake.
