A post here yesterday titled Officer Down. Midland Flashback to 1961 was about a shootout that occurred on November 28, 1961, that had been the topic of a front page article in the Midland Reporter-Telegram.
But, scrolling through the microfilm, there were other things of interest to the casual time traveler. For example, television viewers that night had the choice of two channels, and here's what they could have watched:

And don't forget the stamps. A grocery store ad reminded customers that Wednesday was double stamp day with a purchase of $2.50 or more.
Ah those were the days. I don't remember "The Good Ship Hope" or "The King of Diamonds". Sure remember watching the "Hub Jamboree" on Saturday afternoon though.....live from Odessa.

Although, it would have been in the 1950s, Roy Orbison of Wink, Tx., was supposed to have performed on one of those Saturday afternoon tv musical shows broadcasting from Odessa.
