Just returned from a road trip, and the place where my wallet rests is really aching right about now.
I reserved a full size car from Alamo car rental, and they bumped me up to a Chevy Trailblazer. (One nice thing about renting cars is that you get to sample a variety of vehicles -- it's an extension of that same drive that causes some of us to flip tv channels every two seconds.)
It was a nice SUV, but a trip in any sized vehicle can certainly draw your attention to just how much it costs to hit the road these days. It's one thing to have to fill up every few days. But, it's another thing to fill up a couple of times a day. No lines at the gas pumps, though.
And it's good to be home.
By the way, for those keeping track of these sorts of things, the Chevy Trailblazer got around 20 MPG on the highway.
