Here are some photos from the Airport Disaster Drill 2006 at Midland International Airport on June 24, 2006. This series shows a couple of "victims" with moulage as well as some on the runway. Note the ball point pen protruding from the young woman's side in photo number 2.
This series shows the woman with the pen in her side lying on the runway, then being hauled to the red (critical) triage area, and eventually carried to the ambulance.
Here we see "Stumpy" with the artificial amputation. And for Southwest Airlines it was just a normal day. The temperature wasn't as hot as it has been on recent days, but the water rehab was well received. These photos should pop up when they are clicked, and I hope they show up for you. I've had a problem viewing photos at this site on my own computer, but I don't know yet whether the problem is my computer, my ISP, Typepad, or somewhere in between.
Clicking the small pics to see larger ones works fine for me (Windows XP & Firefox browswer). And good shots, too.
Thanks to all those who volunteered to help out with the drill. I know, from past experience, these disaster drills can be tedious but they are helpful. I'm just glad I don't have to work 'em anymore.

Great pictures. Do they do this yearly? How do you become a volunteer, or are the victims themselves emergency personel?

Bert, they are required by the FAA to conduct a full scale drill at least once every three years. I believe anyone who wasn't a known terrorist could volunteer.
This year Walter (Mac) Harper of the airport operations staff organized it and was the contact person for the volunteers. To reach him go to the airport website and navigate to the staff member list for the phone numbers: http://www.midlandairport.com/

It looks fun! Hope they do it sooner than 3 years
