He's at it again. I'm talking about Jimmy Patterson, Internet editor, blogger, fund raiser, and scissor lift sitter. Huh?
Last year he and Eric Siegmund participated in a 24 hour nonstop blogathon as a fund raiser for Midland Fair Havens. The challenge was for them to stay awake the entire 24 hours, and we had the opportunity to put our money where their mouths were.
Here's the game this time. Jimmy Patterson says he's going to stay awake for 24 hours and blog on line to prove it. And we, the public, are invited to pledge a sum of money for each hour he can do it. So it's basically a bet that he can't stay awake.
I took that bet last year and lost. He stayed awake! And I had to pay up the full amount. So common sense says, "It's a sucker's bet. Don't bet again!"
But now look what he's done. He's upped the stakes. Way up! He's going to do it 30' up in the air on a construction lift. See story.
Ok, I'll take that bet.
But there are some things that worsen the odds for the donors. For one, there are probably going to be a lot of people around to keep him awake. And here's some really bad news. He says there's going to be a search light on the premises all night long. Bright lights keep people awake, so we've got that going against us.
Now if only we had a mole in his camp who could put some lullabies in his Ipod. Or maybe a local sheep herder will lend a flock of sheep to count.
Relax. Think of a calm, peaceful scene. Imagine that you are in a cloud bank, and the clouds are soooo soft and peaceful. All you can hear is a slow, pleasant lullaby.
And next time how about giving a sucker an even break!

BTW....I've put in a request for the Thursday and subsequent Monday letters from Menchaca's attorney so we can see who is telling the truth. I'll post them to the website as soon as they're received - which, I'm told, may take longer since the City has a new lawyer involved.

Jimmy, what are you going to do next year to top this? How about a dance marathon.

George ... My first thought would be to ask you to go 60 feet in the air, doubling everything I'm doing :)

HA HA! Nah Jimmy. People would pledge to see me fall.
