Wednesday afternoon (7/25/07) by chance I happened to see a few minutes of a program identified as MSNBC News Live. And a graphic popped up that was downright stupefying.
Dan Abrams was the host, and the program was about a home invasion which ended in the horrendous murder of three members of the Petit family in Connecticut. As the talking heads talked, viewers were treated with graphics showing mug shots of the two perps along with some of their criminal histories.
Then it happened, just as the scene switched to a graphic. Right there on the screen was a graphic showing a caricature of a grinning Don Imus with the words "Imus, Racist, Bigot." It stayed there for about two seconds, and then the scene switched to the graphic of one of the criminals. Dan Abrams continued without missing a beat.
Some pranksters among the MSNBC staff pulled a fast one. We were told during the Imus/Sharpton rhubarb that the Imus dismissal decision was influenced by the MSNBC staff, and it looks like the staff is still at it. But the question is "why?" Are they trying to sabotage Dan Abrams or is it that they just can't quit poking at Don Imus?
P.S. I taped the 3:00 a.m. rebroadcast of the show, but the Imus graphic had been removed.
P.P.S. I've emailed the Abrams Report and MSNBC News, however as of the time of this writing there has been no reply, but that's no surprise.
