There's a scene in a "Futurama" episode in which the characters' virtual selves fly around surfing the world wide web of the year 3000. But to enjoy themselves they first have to escape advertisements, just like today.
We've all experienced those Flash ads on some websites with their distracting movements and annoying images flashing on and off. Well, here's a great add-on for the Firefox browser called Flashblock. It's supposed to speed up surfing, but the real delight is that it keeps those annoying Flash ads from appearing, that is, unless you want them. If you want to see a Flash image simply click on it, and the block is removed.
It's such a pleasure NOT seeing those things.
