Remember the O. J. Simpson jury verdict following his trial for murdering his ex-wife? Remember how segments of our population rejoiced? "Not Guilty" was the verdict, and many people cheered believing the justice system got what it deserved.
So now we hear that OJ's Vegas adventure will land him in prison for a good long while. But something didn't happen. People didn't riot, teeth didn't gnash, eyes didn't tear up, cries of racism didn't ring out.
Nothing has really changed, except that Obama got elected in the meantime. And maybe this has ushered in a change in attitude that will inhibit the urge to throw out charges of racism so freely. It's just a small thing, but let's appreciate the small things when they happen. And if we have Obama voters to thank for that, then "thank you," Obama voters.
George, I'm wondering if it's someone else we should thank ... like O.J. himself, maybe? I truly believe people have gotten a different view of him through his post-acquittal shenanigans, and re-thought their earlier response to that acquittal. And I think this would have happened no matter who was elected President of the United States ... whether it was Barak Obama, or John Birch himself.

Jeff, I guess I'll just have to keep searching for that change we can believe in.
