Apparently, Trijicon had been using a few alphanumeric characters in the model numbers of the Acog gun sight on military rifles which happen to be Bible verse citations. The example used in an NPR article is "JN8:12" as a reference to John 8:12. Photo example at NYDailynews.com.
This has some people upset, and one critic even claimed it could be used in al Qaeda recruiting. Really? "Join al Qaeda! Reason #1: The heathens use Bible citations on the sights they use to put a bulls eye between your eyes." I don't think they'll be knocking the door down to get in on that.
Not to worry. The company will be issuing kits that can be used to remove the offending characters. Source: NPR.
Let's just hope the complainers don't actually look down those scopes and see -- Gasp! -- cross hairs!
