In the old days a sex doll looked about as lifelike as a pool float, or so I've heard. But get a load of the new generation.
Apparently she had her debut at an expo in Las Vegas, Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010. The developer's website is TrueCompanian.com, but at the moment the site is temporarily unavailable -- high demand, maybe? In the meantime, here's a news release and excerpt:
Complete with artificial intelligence and flesh-like synthetic skin, ROXXXY the sex robot was introduced to the world at the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.
"She can't vacuum, she can't cook but she can do almost anything else if you know what I mean," Douglas Hines, the president of ROXXXY manufacturer TrueCompanion, told the AFP. "She's a companion. She has a personality. She hears you. She listens to you. She speaks. She feels your touch. She goes to sleep. We are trying to replicate a personality of a person."
The Roxxxy is 5 feet, 7 inches tall, 120lbs, and "has a full C cup and is ready for action," according to Mr Hines, who was an artificial intelligence engineer at Bell Labs before starting TrueCompanion.
The anatomically-correct robot has an articulated skeleton that can move like a person but can't walk or independently move its limbs. Robotic movement is built into "the three inputs" and a mechanical heart that powers a liquid cooling system.
So it's a sex doll that talks back. The market place will decide whether that's a feature or a bug.
How much is it? "The doll goes on sale next week for for $7,000 - $9,000 plus a subscription fee, which is 'comparable to a cell plan,' according to Roxxxy's creator, Douglas Hines." Source, PCMag.com. Perhaps the monthly payment is supposed to make it more lifelike.
But before signing up, be sure to watch the Futurama public service announcement, "Don't Date Robots." (If the embed doesn't work, click Don't Date Robots!")
Hat tip: email from Westgate.
Well, obviously CES was not all tablets and 3D television.

Les, one of the articles called it the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, so I'm not sure whether that was part of CES. But, I've never attended either, so for all I know, CES had a back room for stuff like this.

I'm sure it was mere coincidence that the AVN conference was held in Las Vegas at the same time all the CES geeks were in town.

well physical connection is a really important part of intimacy, Adult toy manufacturers should have stronger sustainability action plans and follow through on them, One area in the industry that seems to be lacking is general education about sex toys and health. Education about sex toy materials, toxicity, proper cleaning, proper use, etc. allows adult toy users make smart shopping decisions to truly feel good about

"Good sex" is a highly individual and unique experience. How you perceive sex has a lot to do with what you've learned about it, how it's viewed by your society or culture, and what value you place on it as a part of your life.
In the context of an ongoing sexual relationship, good sex can mean knowing what you want and what your partner wants, knowing how to talk about it comfortably, and never being forced to do anything you don't want to do.
