The DNC's plan to spend big to keep the Democrats in power in 2010. Here's an excerpt from a WSJ article (behind pay wall):
In Mr. Kaine's text, viewed by The Wall Street Journal, the former Virginia governor plans to promise a $50 million effort to counter what he calls a "political headwind." Part of the money will go to "recruit and train a corps of attorneys and law students" to monitor polling places and guard against voter-suppression efforts.
"Voter suppression efforts" probably refers to efforts by Republicans to prevent voter fraud. ACORN is not the mighty vote getting powerhouse it once was, so the DNC looks elsewhere. But regardless, it's jobs, jobs, jobs, and anything will help if it puts people back to work.
Anyway, here are the Democrat bragging points, according to Politico:
We have more accomplishments to run on than any Party in a long time.
—We’ve gone from recession to recovery.
—We’ve made more progress in the war on terror in the last eight months than was made in the preceding eight years.
—We’ve strengthened our relationships with our allies around the world.
—Two million people or more have jobs today who wouldn’t have without the bold action taken by this president and Democrats in Congress
—We have the first Latina and only the third woman ever on the Supreme Court.
—We’re using science and fact in policy making instead of ideology and politics.
—We have the most transparent Administration in modern history, with tough ethics standards, and we are wringing the influence of special interests out of the policy making process.
Really. In politics every day must be opposite day. But if you repeat a fiction often enough, it becomes true.
