Ah, the joys of picking up other people's trash. Yeah, right. As we all know, there are litterbugs about. And if nothing were done, we would be overrun with trash.
Some areas always seem to be cleaner than others, but this morning I hit pay dirt -- a couple of dozen empty beer bottles in a vacant lot across the street from a public park. The park rules prohibited alcohol, so I suppose the litterers thought they were doing a civic duty by not dumping their empties in the park. Note to them: The beer did not make you smarter, it just made you think you were smarter.
No one likes to pick up after other people, and it might not happen without the enthusiastic folks at Keep Midland Beautiful, and their twice-a-year drive to pull people together to clean up the city. Catarina and the others at KMB deserve a heart felt "Thank You!"
But the real payoff came at the end. Free hot dogs. Yes sir, free! And today the chef was preparing Blackened Hot Dog. Mmmmm, blackened hot dog.
