As everyone knows by now, the next TEA Party rally in the region will be at Jim Parker Park in Odessa on April 17, 2010, from 1-4 pm. And it's shaping up to be an exiting event. Check out the Odessa Tea Party website for the list of speakers.
But here's where it gets very interesting. The Odessa Tea Party sent out an email this morning warning about a gang of Obama backers who are encouraging people to crash TEA parties. Posters at their website, crashtheteaparty.org, provide advice to their followers about how to damage the image of the opposition. The email quotes some of the crasher's ideas, which include a suggestion to get people to sign fake petitions and extract as much personal information from signers as they can or carry outrageous signs that would attract media attention. It appears from a quick glance at the crasher's website that some of the most inflammatory advice may have been taken off line.
It's hard to imagine someone actually doing some of those things, and it's tempting to think there's a little too much paranoia about it. But if there's one thing we've learned from witnessing the passage of Obamacare, President Obama's loyalists believe that the end justifies the means. Saul Alinsky would be proud to see his legacy so much alive.
So if you attend the rally, the Odessa Tea Party advises, don't sign any petitions or provide personal information to anyone other than at the official Odessa Tea Party booth or at the speakers' booths.
See you at the rally!
