Joe Queenan has an idea so good that it will never see the light of day. There has been too much money wasted on phony "stimulus," and that money just lined someone's pockets without doing anything for the economy. But there's a place to put money to work where it could actually do some good. See Cyber Stimulus: Blogging Is Shovel-Ready, Too. Excerpt:
This is where the bloggers come in. Luddites might not like it, but bloggers are just as much a part of the economy as teachers and grease monkeys and baristas. Bloggers produce stuff. Bloggers write stuff. Bloggers aren't just sitting at home, wasting time. When a blogger blogs about what another blogger blogged about after reading a blogger's blog response to a blogger's remark he read on a blog at the Huffington Post, he is participating in the economic life of this nation, just as much as a roughneck resurfacing a highway in the Rocky Mountains in the middle of the night. In February. At 15 below zero. Right after an avalanche.
He's right. A lot of thankless time, energy and pixels have gone into blogs, all without a proper stimulus. Think how much better they could be with a nice stimulus package. Oh, and it would stimulate the economy, too.
