Annabella Battistella, AKA "Fanne Foxe" and "the Argentine Firecracker," was working as a stripper at a club in Washington D.C. at the time. And on October 7, 1974, she was a passenger in a car driven by Representative Wilber Mills, D-Arkansas who got pulled over by the U.S. Park Police. The Argentine Firecracker jumped out of the car and into the Tidal Basin causing a scandal that titillated news junkies across the country. Mills was reelected that November but didn't run again.
