Not to be confused with courageous, this woman is fearless, meaning she feels no fear. The reason, according to the BBC, is because she suffered an injury to the amygdala in her brain.
If only there were some way to temporarily neutralize the amygdala in the normal brain. It might be nice to go into a situation that might otherwise be frightening, whether it's flying, giving a speech, or just asking the boss for a raise, and address it without all the baggage fear brings with it. Or as the BBC article suggests, alleviate PTSD.
Or some of us might want to become daredevils. Why should Evil Knievel have all the fun?
