A decade. That's a long time out of a human's life. But the reason that time span comes to mind is because of two recent news items.
First -- CBS7 tells us in Teen Mom Pleads Guilty in Child Abuse Case that the said teen mom " in one of the worst cases of child abuse Midland County said they had ever seen, has been sentenced ... to the maximum of ten years for injury to a child."
Second -- The Midland Reporter-Telegram tells us in Charge added to 22-year-old DWI manslaughter suspect: "If convicted of the second-degree felony, Booth could serve up to 20 years in prison. He also could receive up to 10 years for smoking in prison."
Measured by the yardstick of prison sentencing, injury to a child is oddly equated with smoking in jail.
George, I am appalled at the sentence in the child abuse case. What kind of prosecutors does Midland County have these days?

Suzanne, the woman's crime appeared to have been that she did nothing when the child was injured. Perhaps the prosecutors were more focused on the guy.
