Oh right. They were out there blocking and covering and giving a lift to Barack Obama's amazing ascent to the presidency.
There was a funny episode in Texas Supreme Court history. Back in 1976 there was a popular liberal politician around named Don Yarborough who had a fair amount of name recognition. And a guy named Don Yarbrough -- note the spelling difference -- ran for Supreme Court Justice in November of 1976. He won. But there was a problem. Mr. Yarbrough was under indictment for forging an auto registration and lying to a grand jury. He was sworn in in January 1977, and by July he had been forced to resign.
Liberals who voted for him blamed the Texas press for not vetting him in advance of the election. One wonders if they have the same attitude about the lack of vetting of Barack Obama in the run up to the 2008 presidential election.
Many conservatives see it as a main stream media low point, and MSM took a big hit to their reputation. The information was out there, but Democrats in the MSM tried to keep it under wraps.
Now that it's too late to matter, more people are paying attention to the relationship between Obama and part time Weather Underground terrorist, Bill Ayers. For instance, just in the past few days we are hearing more about the fundraiser Bill Ayers put on for Obama which kicked off the presidential campaign. See BigGovernment.com and BigJournalism.com, both via Instapundit. The Obama campaign denied it, and his media backers tried to brand anyone who disagreed as a kookie conspiracy theorist. Finally the facts are seeing the light of day.
So maybe it's time to pay more attention to Jack Cashill who presented some very persuasive evidence that Bill Ayers wrote the book, "Dreams of My Father." That's Barack Obama's "autobiography." It's no secret that many busy celebrities use ghost writers, but that particular book was one on which many Obama supporters relied to convince themselves of Obama's amazing intellect. Bill Ayers probably feels complimented. And if you watch this Youtube video of a Q&A after a Bill Ayers speech you can hear Ayers admit that he did indeed write the book. But then he makes a joke to suggest we can't prove it.
But Jack Cashill makes the case. Watch his presentation in a C-Span video here or here where he lays out the amazing word and story structure analysis he did to try to figure out who ghost wrote the book, the realization that Obama and Ayers must have used the same ghost writer, then the final recognition that it was Ayers himself who wrote it.
Just like in the election of Texas Supreme Court Justice Don Yarbrough, voters got snookered by Barack Obama.
