He's Jonathan Goldsmith, born Jonathan Lippe on 9/26/38 in NY, NY. And he plays the character in the Dos Equis commercials called "the most interesting man in the world" which has probably provided him more face recognition than anything else he has done.
But he's not really that interesting.
To his credit, he did play bit parts in a over a hundred TV shows beginning with "Naked City" in 1963 and including TV classics like "Bonanza," "Dragnet," "Knots Landing," and "Dallas." See his IMDB page for a more complete list.
Things slowed down after the 1980s, but here's an interesting match-up. It's a role in a TV movie called Another Pretty Face (2002). Look way down on the list of cast members and there's old Jonathan. The most interesting man in the world meets another pretty face. It's symmetrical. It's poetical. No, it's semi-poetrical.
