PoliceOne.com released results from a survey they conducted in early March of this year. And the findings are interesting. PoliceOne.com has 400,000 members they verified as law enforcement officers, and their poll got over 15,000 responses.
The full survey results can be found here. Via WSJ.
Let's take a look at some of the questions and answers.
Q4 - almost 61% didn't think Obama's proposed legislation would improve their safety.
Q5 - 71% didn't think an "assault weapon" ban would reduce violent crime.
Q6 - a whopping 95.7% didn't think a ban of magazines that hold over 10 rounds would reduce violent crime.
Q7 - almost 80% didn't think a law prohibiting non dealer transfers of firearms between individuals would reduce violent crime.
Q15 - 61% said that if they were a sheriff or chief they would not enforce more restrictive gun laws.
Q19 - 91.3% said they supported concealed carry by civilians who haven't been convicted of a felony or been deemed psychologically or medically incapable.
Q22 - 80% thought that a legally armed citizen present at the shootings in Newton and Aurora could have reduced casualties.
Those are interesting survey results, and it shows a lot of common sense among those who participated in the survey. Many of those responders were probably state and local police officers, not employees of the federal government. And some of them might fear they too could be negatively affected by some of the anti gun sentiment prevalent today in the White House.
Anyway, take a look at the survey results and draw your own conclusions.
