This is National Volunteer Week to honor all those people who donate their time to help advance some worthwhile effort. Hats off to everyone who pulls together to get something done. The bystanders' response at the recent Boston bombings gives us a good example of what can be done. And those people deserve all the accolades they get.
President Obama has gotten in on the act by issuing a Proclamation declaring April 21 through April 27, 2013, as National Volunteer Week. His edict:
I call upon all Americans to observe this week by volunteering in service projects across our country and pledging to make service a part of their daily lives.
Workers of the world unite! And work for free!
With high levels of unemployment that's one way to get people back to work.
