Long time Obama fan -- some call him a cheerleader -- is getting set to call any possible deal with Syria a victory for Obama. Yeah right. More like dumb luck.
But Klein's right about this: "This is, in many ways, a better outcome than the White House could have hoped for." I'll say. It's as if he was headed to a game of hoops with an opponent he knew he couldn't beat, and the game was called on account of rain. Victory!
But it's not in writing. In fact there looks to be a rather serious sticking point. Putin says in order for there to be a deal the U.S. must reject the use of force. Def Sec Chuck Hagel says it won't work without the threat of force. But the shelf life of spokesperson statements is even shorter than statements from the President himself. And the President need the deal more than any other party in the game, so odds lean toward Obama bending. But, Victory!
