Hackers turn US health services site into online Ugg boot store.
Seems that a government health service website got hijacked by hackers who replaced the government web pages with ads for Ugg boots and NFL jerseys. This is both funny and sad. It's funny because the affected websites were run by the same government outfit that is supposed to implement and run Obamacare. And it's sad because the people at that agency are probably doing the best they can do.
Weekly Standard broke the story. And it was the section of HHS afflicted was the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Native American Center for Excellence subsection (nace.samhsa.gov.) Today, four days later, the website says it is undergoing maintenance. See screenshot on the right.
It must take constant vigilance to ward off hackers. But it must be done. And if this incident shows how vulnerable the HHS system is then it demonstrates the regard the leaders of our government have for the people on whom they've foisted a healthcare overhaul all for the purpose of fulfilling their imagination of a utopian empire filled with subservient subjects.
