Local paper can't resist getting personal about politician they didn't support

Two newspapers for the price of one!

One day they chastise a citizen for providing too much information about the political leanings of one of the mayoral candidates, the candidate the newspaper endorsed. They said,

But if this prevents good candidates from running because they believe their reputation will be smeared, there is reason for concern. We fear that what occurred in the mayoral race will keep needed leaders from running for offices... .

The next day their headline proclaims that the son of the winner, the candidate they did NOT endorse, got arrested for possession of contraband drugs.

 

Way to go, newspaper. There's a clear warning to any potential leader who might have a troubled child -- your kid gets arrested and it's smeared on the front page. That was the front page, mind you, not way back in the police reports.

But let's give the newspaper the benefit of the doubt. It has a tradition of sucking up to politicians who get elected, so maybe they're just trying to correct that.
