I wish I had thought of this first.
Most of us probably remember the story we heard as children about how the industrious ants scavenged all summer for food and stored it away for the winter. But the grasshopper just hopped around having fun, laughing at the silly ant. Come winter the ants thrived in their underground colony while the grasshopper starved. That was a teaching moment.
The story has been updated to fit the current state of our society as it relates to government. The ants do their thing, and the grasshopper does his thing. Come winter the grasshopper goes to the government, calls a press conference, and makes the case for the unfairness of inequality. The government taxes the ants to provide for the grasshopper. The grasshopper now has it easy while the ants starve. There's a lesson there, too.
This story comes from a website called the Laughing Conservative, however I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Read the whole story at The Ant and the grasshopper: Two Versions.
You know, if we could somehow give the ant colony Obamacare and all its effects the ants would have more free time, just like American workers will.
