For quite some time pundits have predicted that Obama would issue an executive order to legitimize millions of illegal aliens. Heck, Obama himself threatened it. The only question became: When?
Now we read that President Obama decided to wait until after the November elections. How convenient. The prevailing theory was that if he did it before the election potential voters would react by voting against Democrats in the November election.
So the thinking in the White House must be that he is going to do it anyway, but if he hasn't done it by election day, voters will vote like nothing happened. Could Obama be right?
Those people who never drank the Obama Kool-Aid would like to say "No." But if they've followed the news from the time Obama made the national scene they have to acknowledge the possibility that he could pull it off. P. T. Barnum's famous quote springs to mind -- "Nobody ever lost a dollar by underestimating the taste of the American public." Barack Obama's whole agenda, reputation and persona is built on a low estimation of the voting public.
On the other hand, maybe he realizes that they're not that dumb and has some distraction in the works. My guess is that he expects some big victory over ISIS between now and then which will have his fans singing his praises. Then of course we should expect to see some trumped up outrage against Republicans: race riots; a war on women; or hatred of poor people. We've certainly seen that before.
