Blog.chron.com blogger chrisladd paints a dismal picture for the 2016 election. He notes that Democrats have a lock on 257 electoral votes without even lifting a finger. And it wouldn't take much for them to pull in another 13 to take the presidency. And there's this:
In 2016 Republicans will be defending 24 Senate seats and at least 18 of them are likely to be competitive based on geography and demographics. Democrats will be defending precisely one seat that could possibly be competitive. One.
Furthermore:
Something, some force, some gathering of sane, rational, authentically concerned human beings generally at peace with reality must emerge in the next four to six years from the right, or our opportunity will be lost for a long generation. Needless to say, Greg Abbott and Jodi Ernst are not that force.
Well, Republicans have Barack Obama going for them. Obama came out of the woodwork in 2008 and swept the nation into a hysteria most of us have never witnessed before. Hopefully, those voters made drunk by that euphoria have sobered since then and aren't yet ready for another hangover like we've experienced this past six years.
