Welcome to Fox Friday, a weekly display of the best of the urban fox photos from the previous seven nights. The camera is set in an undisclosed location in the heart of Midland, Texas. The food consists of two chicken drumsticks. And the photos that result give a glimpse of wild foxes as they scavenge for food.
For starters, the most ferocious of the feral cats that frequent the Bone Yard has been absent for over a week. Perhaps he found some better food elsewhere. Anyway, that's good news for our favorite wild canines.
Old Crooked Tail is a regular. But this past week a new pair of foxes have been frequenting the area. One is a larger fox, and the other is a small, younger fox.
11-17-14 111 Here they are in the same frame. The larger one eats while the youngster keeps an eye out. Notice that these two don't seem to mind letting their tails drag the ground.
11-17-14 130 Furthermore, this one is so brazen he/she eats right in front of the camera, unlike some of the others who snatch and dash.
11-17-14 155 and 156 157 We learn who's boss in this set. The youngster comes up looking for a morsel, the big one gives him a dirty look, and zip the youngster takes off like a rocket. Not to worry, the little one didn't go far, and hopefully this trip wasn't a waste for him.
11-19 90 One of the regulars, Old Crooked Tail, showed up this week, too. And here we see her displaying her namesake while pawing at a drumstick.
23b Finally, you have to see this majestic pose. This photo has been cropped to show highlight that posture. What a beautiful animal.
That's it for this Fox Friday. See ya next time.
