It was a yougov.com poll which says it has a 4% margin of error. But if it's accurate, that seems like a low percentage for Democrats on socialism. Maybe they like the idea that it creeps in unannounced so they don't have to face the reality of it head on.
Anyway, a link to the above results can be found at the article titled One third of millennials view socialism favorably. As you can see, they're more impressed with the young peoples' view. That's important all right, but attitudes change as people get older. We've all heard the old saw about how you don't have a heart if you aren't liberal when you're young, and you don't have a brain if you are still liberal when you get older. Spending a few years in the real economy can do that to a person.
Furthermore, as young people get exposed to the chaos of countries like Greece and Argentina they'll wise up to hazards of socialism.
What impresses me is what seems to be a low number of Democrats who view socialism favorably. The numbers were 7% very favorable and 36% somewhat favorable. Barack Obama swept Democrats off their feet in 2008. And few knew before he got elected president what President Obama would do once in office. This poll doesn't appear to have a prior set of numbers for comparison. But now that Obama has made some significant strides towards a socialism, voters should have a better idea of what socialism means. And maybe next time they'll vote with their brains, not their hearts.
