Representative Larry Phillips' open carry bill passed the House a month ago. And according to the action page for HB 910, yesterday the state Senate held public hearings on the bill.
A whole slew of women spoke against it, all purporting to be supporters of an organization called "Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America" which appears to be a garden variety anti-gun group. Here's the fun part. They all seemed to be reading from the same script. At least that's the way it appeared in this youtube video montage. Bless their hearts. If only good intentions really did translate to good sense.
If you want to skip the anti-gun ladies, start at the 8:13 mark to hear Open Carry Texas founder and president CJ Grisham rebut the claim that open carry might have contributed to the violence at the biker gang shootout in Waco. He patiently explained that known gang member are already prohibited from carrying guns. And the open carry bill would not change that.
So now we await the Senate's action, then the governor's signature.
