Anyone who has shopped at a Wal-Mart during the Christmas season has experienced the frustration of walking up to a bank of 30 or so checkout counters and seeing a line at each one. Maybe they're going to do something about that with this new bar code idea.
A company called Digimarc has developed a watermark that can be put in packaging which will allow the package to be able to be scanned instantly to retrieve the product information. Scanners could be put in shopping carts, and a simplified checkout and bagging plan could send Christmas shoppers on their way. Hooray!

BTW, there are only 183 days til Christmas as of right now. Shop early.
P.S. Wal-Mart announced that the stores will stopped selling Confederate themed merchandise. Although it's hard to imagine that anyone would have boycotted Wal-Mart if they hadn't made that move.
