The criminal complaint against Enrique Marquez can be found here, and it contains some very interesting information about Mr. Marquez.
For instance, Marquez moved to Riverside, California, in 2004 and became friends with his next door neighbor, Syed Rizwan Farook. Nothing unusual there. But in 2005 Farook introduced Marquez to Islam and began the education process which resulted in Marquez converting to Islam two years later. The next step in the educational process was radical Islam and the views of Anwar al-Aulaqi.
The indoctrination continued, and by 2011, Marques and Farook were planning terrorists attacks, buying firearms, and visiting shooting ranges. In late 2011 and early 2012 Marquez bought two rifles which were eventually used by Farook and wife to murder 14 people. Farook wanted Marquez to buy the rifles because Farook thought Marquez would draw less attention because of Farook's Middle-Eastern look.
Marquez lied on the paper work when he stated it was not a straw purchase. Marquez also bought the smokeless powder which was used in the unexploded IEDs left at the scene of the crime.
One crime they planned involved the setting off of a bomb on a freeway to stop the traffic. Farook would go from car to car shooting occupants while Marquez would sit on a hillside picking off people and watching for law enforcement officers. This plan remained unfulfilled by the time Farook met his end.
In addition to all of that, and in comparison this seems almost innocuous, for $200 per month, Marquez agreed to enter into a sham marriage with the sister of Farook's brother's wife in order for her to obtain permanent U.S. residence status. Meanwhile, Farook met the jihadist of his dreams, and stopped hanging out with Marquez.
All of this is spelled out in the aforementioned complaint. And it leads one to believe that if all this is true, Marquez is a hell of a patsy to have been so eager to lend his help for such nefarious purposes. Why did he do it? Those radical Islamic imams must be very persuasive when they've got just the right stooge to listen to their rants.
