It has to have been a focus group approved expression. "That's not who we are." It has become a tiresome cliche. And someone finally called attention to it.

Given Mr. Obama's background one might be tempted to ask how he would know who we are. We aren't Frank Marshall Davis, Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright or any of the others who shaped who he is. We, being rational Americans, are who we are which is quite different from who Obama is.
