Sometimes the jokes write themselves. But stranger things have happened. So it's useful to keep this in mind: Hillary Clinton ‘loves’ the idea of appointing Obama to Supreme Court. Excerpt:
“Wow, what a great idea. No one has ever suggested that to me, I love that, wow,” Mrs. Clinton said. ... “I mean, he’s brilliant, he can set forth an argument and he was a law professor,” she added.
"Law professor." Ha! Let's see what others have said about that particular claim:
Among the lies about himself Obama consistently repeats is that he was a constitutional law professor.
Lie one: Obama was never a professor; he was a lecturer. He did not have the qualifications to be a professor. ...
Lie two: Obama did not specialize in the Constitution. Obama cared about and taught only one subject: race.
But knowledge of the Constitution or any of the cases decided by the Supreme Court isn't important to a proponent of the "living constitution" theory, which as Randy Barnett said recently on C-Span, is whatever the believer in a "living constitution" wants the Constitution to mean.
But here's the really, really, important part of Clinton's remarks:
At a campaign event in Iowa Tuesday, Mrs. Clinton told the crowd the next president may have to appoint up to three Supreme Court justices.
A sobering thought that should give Republican primary voters something to chew on.
