Experts say that Ryan Lochte would probably lose the prospect of lucrative sponsors. Too bad. There's at least a segment of the American population that believes in honesty and owning up to one's drunken mistakes, and the sponsors know it.
Contrast that with Hillary Clinton who is probably the biggest known liar to ever seek the presidency. And she just might win. Astonishing dichotomy.
Any company that expects to sell widgets through a celebrity endorsement wants that celebrity to be squeaky clean. That might be too high a hurdle these days. Nonetheless, there it is.
And yet here comes Hillary Clinton who lies through her teeth, then lies about lying. One has to wonder if she could get away with anything she wants. If she gets elected, no one should doubt that she will push the limits of political integrity.
The other day Dana Perino made a cogent comparison. Clinton is like O. J. Simpson. There was no way the jury in his murder trial would find him guilty. In Hillary's case, she's innocent even if proven guilty.
P.S. Right on cue, Lochte's lawyer clarifies that what Lochte said was not a total lie, only partly.
