The Daily Caller tells us this: Humble Brag — Obama Says He’s Basically Been The MLK For Hondurans. He says that apparently because he believes open borders in the U.S. are best for the little children of the world and their families.
But the comparison with Martin Luther King, Jr., is apt only so far as both won a Nobel Peace Prize, although the only thing Obama did to win it was to get elected to the Presidency. He had a lot of help, but he did win the job twice.
However, MLK is best known for his efforts to end racism against blacks. And those of us who lived through that era must conclude that he was quite successful in helping end racial strife. Few can forget those famous words:
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.
Right on.
Unfortunately, President Obama blew the opportunity to appreciate King's remarks by creating more racial strife than we've seen in years. Instead of comparing himself to Martin Luther King, Jr., a better comparison might be to Al Sharpton.
