Canada is getting ready for an influx of refugees from Mexico if they aren't allowed to resettle in the U.S. See John McCallum says Mexican visa could be 'reimposed' if refugee claims spike.
CBC News has learned officials at IRCC and other departments have held high-level meetings to discuss a potential flood of Mexican asylum-seekers due to both the visa lift and the result of the U.S. election.
It's interesting that the "refugee" status is being assigned to our Southern neighbors, although that's probably nothing new. It's reasonable enough to assume the narco-terrorist cartels can be sufficiently violent to generate refugees. Although, it's ironic that the very same cartels run the businesses that smuggle immigrants into the U.S.
Meanwhile, we heard cries from some wealthy celebrities that they'll leave the U.S. if Trump won. They could probably afford to go anywhere they would be welcome. But Canada would seem to be a likely choice. But who would have guessed it would be Mexicans who were rejected by the U.S.?
One celebrity may actually leave, if he can be believed. That makes one: Hollywood’s George Lopez insists he really will leave the country due to Trump. Now where would he go? He wouldn't say. Mexico is probably out of consideration, but maybe he can get refugee status in Canada.
