Complying with the Texas law to get a photo ID can be difficult without easy access to the documents necessary to prove one's identity. I experienced this first hand when I helped an helped an elderly woman get one not too long ago. Claimants contended that it was too difficult for minorities and took it to court.
Now it's New Mexico's turn. But they won't likely won't have to endure the lawsuits because New Mexico isn't turning away voters, it's the TSA turning away would-be fliers.
Crystal Foreman Brown had a hard time in New Mexico and told the story at Americanthinker.com.
After the TSA rejected New Mexico driver's licenses as proof of identity for boarding a commercial airline the NM legislature passed a law requiring residents to prove who there were in order to get the legal resident driver's license. Ms. Brown describes the difficulties she had in Being Legal in New Mexico. By her telling, it was a nightmare of bureaucratic red tape. Ultimately, she left the MVD office empty handed. But all was not lost, to wit:
On a happier note, I have remembered that she explained, the first time I went in, that just to operate a car, I can get a regular license that will not get me on a plane, but is legal to drive with -- just like the illegals use! Just like my old one. So that is what I will get! I have a passport for other stuff, and I do not think I will travel by public conveyance much anymore anyway. The business of proving I am not a criminal everywhere I go is getting too annoying.
"... just like the illegals use!" They taught her who is ultimately in charge.
