Franken's seat was safely Democrat, therefore he became expendable. He was sacrificed in order to provide talking points for Democrats.
Oh sure, Franken was crass, unfunny, and certainly deserved a scolding. But to be forced to resign by his fellow politicians, not the voters, was something he didn't deserve.
The stories sound as if he really was trying to be some sort of humorist with his antics around women. They didn't play well now that we've got this tidal wave of feminist fury striking out at any man who did anything a woman decided years later that she didn't like.
Al Franken has Roy Moore to blame. If Moore had lost in the primaries, Moore's attackers would likely never have surfaced. Franken is paying the price for the false moral high ground Democrats hope to project as they throw stones at the party to which Roy Moore claims to belong.
