The Vote Where It Counts movement in NY state encourages owners of multiple houses to be selective of the jurisdiction in which to vote so as to have the most impact. The purpose, of course, is to help make that blue wave less of a mirage and more of a reality.
The intellectual Ira Stoll notes an irony which he explains in his article at Futureofcapitalism.com. See Vote Where It Counts:
The idea that urban dwellers wealthy enough to afford vacation homes should use their political power to dilute that of rural Americans who aren't lucky enough to have a choice of homes from which to vote seems like it treads awfully close to non-egalitarian means to achieve (allegedly) egalitarian ends.
It certainly does reinforce the belief that the wealthy elite think they know better than the rabble and don't mind forcing it on them.
Right on cue to help make the point is this headline from the satirical site, Babylonbee.com, Bernie Sanders Rails Against ‘Greedy Rich People’ From Third House.
Speaking of Sanders, he not only has multiple homes. He has powerful comrades. De Blasio spends weekend at Bernie Sanders’ summer home.
