In one of Beto O'Rourke's TV ads he looks sincerely into the camera and declares that his campaign didn't accept PAC money. That's meaningless.
The message he probably wants the commercial viewers to absorb is that he doesn't take money from special interest groups. But that would be an outright lie. Most of his contributions come from outside of Texas, and the tech companies are a very big part of it. A tech company like Google and its employees probably have more influence on voters than all the Republican PACs combined.
