As this post is being typed, Brett Kavanaugh has just now received Senate approval for his promotion to Supreme Court Justice. News reporter says he is to be sworn in on Tuesday following Columbus Day.
What a remarkable ride this has been. Democrats overplayed their hand throughout the whole thing. And many of us out here in flyover country have been appalled at their tactics. Will this energize people enough to vote to retain Republican control of the House and Senate? We'll see.
In any case, Donald Trump or some future Republican president will have the opportunity to name new justices to replace those who retire or otherwise vacate their seats.
So give those nominees a case of whatever Kavanaugh drinks! You'll recognize that as a paraphrase of the famous Abe Lincoln response to one of his advisers who complained that General Grant drank too much whiskey. I toast thee, nominee!
