Many of us who did not vote for Barack Obama observed that he really didn't have much to offer to the nation. Yet in spite of having had no participation in the economy other than as a community organizer, in a world in which the politics of identity prevailed, he rose to the top. And he got elected twice.
These days it's hard to avoid hearing about polls which place Beto O'Rourke at the top of the list of potential Democrat presidential candidates. Although he has more experience in the economy than Obama did, O'Rourke is still short on accomplishments. But he's handsome and well liked by those who meet him. He's just the sort of person Democrats would vote for.
But if he's an empty suit, that suit is about to be filled with progressive platitudes. And here comes a Democrat schooling O'Rourke in WaPo on what he needs to say. Link: Why this progressive Texan can’t get excited about Beto O’Rourke. Spoiler alert! He needs to come out for Medicare-for-all and the progressive view on climate change. Furthermore, he needs to come out swinging against Wall Street, oil and gas, welfare reform and war. He'll perform on cue any minute now.
