Most adults over a certain age know or knew someone who suffered from some form of cancer. So far, a sure fire cure hasn't been found. And those in the business are content with prolonging the cancer patients life. After all, if the patient dies from something else, then they consider that a success.
Researchers are on the lookout for new techniques for old remedies. And wired.com tells a story of one in A Clever New Strategy for Treating Cancer, Thanks to Darwin.
The technique is called Adaptive Therapy. Over time cancer cells become resistant to the drugs being used to kill them. And the theory is that the drugs could be administered intermittently to allow the non-resistant cells to grow for a while so that they might compete and eliminate the emerging resistant cells. So there's the Darwin theory of evolution.
It's a long article, but anyone interested in the subject might appreciate the insight offered there. But admittedly, for most of us it is TLDR.

P.S. Maybe there's a way the oncologists could work together to make Immuno-oncology a part of the solution.
