Our moms always urged us to eat healthy food. But what is or isn't healthy changes from time to time based on research and probably a bit of whim of the government employees whose job it is to publish guidelines.
With that in mind, it was interesting that George H.W. Bush, who lived 94 years, famously hated and refused to eat broccoli. We've always been told how good broccoli is supposed to be for us. Yet Bush lived a long life without any of that benefit. Go figure.
Anyway, there's a company that seeks to offer customers a diet plan which meets their exact bodily needs. They analyze customers DNA and other elements in their blood, then they prescribe a particular diet based on the nutritional needs they've gleaned from that analysis. It's a California company called Habit, LLC . The DNA test kit is a bit pricey at $299 plus shipping. They want to sell the customer meals, too, unless the customer opts out of that feature.
It might be a good deal, even at that price, for people who eat whatever the latest health fads demand. And those picky eaters who want to know the ideal combination of the basic food groups that their bodies need might get some benefit. As for me, I'll stick with mom's advice and eat my broccoli.
