Neil Gorsuch's book, "A Republic, If You Can Keep It," provides this quote of the week. The JPG scan is the first page of chapter 2 of the book and addresses the North Korean constitution.
Justice Gorsuch says the NorKor constitution is similar to the constitutions of most communist countries. Then this:
But everyone knows that the promises found in these documents aren't worth the paper they're written on.
He makes an important point. Our own constitution is only worth what people think it's worth. In case there's any doubt, it is worth respecting. But if/when that respect is gone, then it won't be worth much as a rule of law.
We've got a good country here, if we can keep it. Let's not screw it up.
