Politico informs us that Moody’s credit rating agency is warning against Iranian hackers. And while they don't mention the method, we should be aware that phishing is the most common way a hacker breaches the target's system.
Most of us are already on alert for phishing emails, and on this subject, Paul Ducklin provides some helpful info in 5 tips to avoid spear-phishing attacks. Here are his bullet points:
1. Don’t be swayed just because a correspondent seems to know a lot about you.
2. Don’t rush to send out data just because the other person tells you it’s urgent.
3. Don’t rely on details provided by the sender when you check up on them.
4. Don’t follow instructions on how to view an email that appear inside the email itself.
5. Don’t be afraid to get a second opinion.
