"Silent majority" was a popular phrase during Nixon's campaign for reelection in reference to those people who were appalled by the rioting and whose own method of rioting was at the ballot box.
The phrase was supposed to have been first used in politics by Warren Harding in 1919. So Nixon can't take full credit for its use, but he certainly took advantage of it.
Which brings us to the present.
The election is months away, and it's too early to predict. But the rioting, looting, burning, and commandeering of city blocks has certainly turned off a substantial segment of the voting public.
There are those who would probably like for the demonstrations to continue until the November election in hopes that they may be hurting Trump by demonstrating an inability to come up with a way to end it or perhaps goad him into overreacting.
But the silent majority if out there. Will their momentum be enough to reelect Donald Trump? We'll see what happens.
